The Journey to The Perfect Wedding Suit: Crafting Elegance from Fabric to Finishing Touches

Part 2 – Fabric & Material

After completing Andrew's precise measurements (which were covered in Part 1***hyperlink), it was time to determine the ideal style for his upcoming wedding. Andrew was really stuck on whether he wanted to do a black suit or a tux, and although a black suit seemed like the more versatile option, we agreed that with his wedding being black tie optional a tuxedo would elevate his appearance and ensure he stood out as the best-dressed gentleman at the wedding. With the decision made, it was time to delve into his style preferences and select a fabric that would make him truly shine.

Exploring Tuxedo Styles

Andrew expressed a keen interest in a double-breasted tuxedo, a choice that thrilled me. It's a unique and captivating style that not many individuals opt for, making it all the more exciting to create. The next step was to determine the button arrangement, and after careful consideration, we eliminated the four-button option with closely spaced buttons. Given Andrew's tall stature, it was best to avoid overwhelming him with too many buttons, so we settled on the four-button arrangement with two high wider-set buttons and the two in the middle (see far right of graphic).

Selecting Luxurious Fabrics

The world of fabrics unfolded before us, offering an array of choices for Andrew's tuxedo. Mohair was one of my first recommendations due to its subtle sheen and lightweight nature, ensuring comfort throughout the event. Of course, Andrew loved one of my personal favorites, the Super 200s fabric from Lora Piana. Renowned for its opulence and exquisite feel, it would truly make Andrew's tuxedo a pinnacle of luxury, however, it wasn’t the price range Andrew was looking for at this time. Another intriguing option that caught Andrew’s eye was a wool and silk blend fabric from Carnet, boasting a captivating large nailshead pattern with a striking sheen and textured appeal. It was this fabric that captured his imagination, ultimately becoming our choice.

Attention to Detail

To complement the black tuxedo, we decided on a dark navy paisley lining that would tastefully contrast with the overall look, adding a touch of elegance. The pockets would be jetted and adorned with satin, a classic detail that elevates the sophistication of every tuxedo. Anticipation filled the air as I could feel Andrew eagerly anticipating the final result, eager to witness the harmonious combination of design, fabric, and meticulous craftsmanship.

With the style preferences set and the fabric is chosen, Andrew's journey towards a remarkable tuxedo had reached an exciting milestone. The stage is set for the tailor to transform these elements into a masterpiece that would not only make Andrew the center of attention at his wedding but also serve as a testament to the timeless elegance and exceptional craftsmanship that defines custom tailoring at 1701 Bespoke.
